Daily Echo: Inquiry date set for travellers' site proposal in Fordingbridge Inquiry date set for travellers' site proposal in Fordingbridge

A DATE has been set for a public inquiry into a planning application that sparked almost 300 objections.

Controversial proposals to create a permanent site for travellers in the Hampshire countryside will be examined by a Governmentappointed planning inspector at Fordingbridge Town Hall on April 29 next year.

An application to put two mobile homes on land off Marl Lane, Fordingbridge, as well as erect entrance gates, stables and toilets was rejected by the district council earlier this year.

The greenfield site is owned by brothers Felix and Miles Connors, who say they and their families want to put down roots.

But campaigners fear the number of caravans will grow if the scheme is approved.
