Robber knocks out young woman in attack in Woolston area of Southampton

Daily Echo: Robber knocks out young woman Robber knocks out young woman

A YOUNG woman was knocked unconcious by a robber who punched her in the face.

The 21-year-old student was walking to her car, a Ford Fiesta, which she had parked in Swift Road, near the junction of Victoria Road, Woolston.

As she was about to get in the car, a man shouted at her to hand over her purse.

When the woman replied that she did not have it, the man punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious.

When she woke, the woman found change she had been carrying scattered on the ground.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-twenties. He is about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. The robber was wearing a black hoody with the hood up and dark gloves.

He spoke in a husky voice with a local accent and smelled of alcohol.

Detectives are appealing for information from witnesses who were in the area at the time. They want to hear from anyone who saw the incident or a man who matches the description of the offender.

They also want to hear from anyone who has CCTV installed on the exterior of their property.

The incident happened around 8.30pm on Thursday, December 5.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Esra Phillipson-Masters at Bitterne CID on 101.

So a police picture on a police story is not enough for you? What do you want, the reporter to go back in time and get the robber to pose for a quick snap?

The choice of stock image to illustrate the police is hardly the most important matter at hand here, is it?

So first we had the attack in Woolston last week where a man was stabbed and kicked in the head for no reason on the 2/12 and then this attack 3 days later at a similar time of day again for no reason.
Also there has again been a long delay in the police telling people about this, nearly a week this time.
Do they not think that this deserves a front page spread so that people can be warned that there is some sort of madman around? Or do they want it to happen again?
It's about time this was taken seriously and given every resource before a fatal attack takes place.

But the story isn't about the police. It's about an attack.

Sorry, I must have missed the memo mandating that we only discuss the most important matter at hand.

No where near the Obelisk.
Down by the new houses that have gone up as previously pointed out, nearer the Queen Vic than the Obelisk.
Put a Sat Nav on your christmas list

It's a 7 minute walk by google maps reckoning, which means under 5 minutes for anyone who doesn't dawdle. If you class that as "nowhere near" then maybe put an exercise bike on yours...

Well put. Every story on the Echo website seems to attract cynicism and those who make jokes out of tragic stories trying to make their self look interesting and intelligent.
Complete trolls.
I too hope this so called man is caught and the poor woman recovers from this awful ordeal.

You're making a bit of an assumption there tbh. Hitting a few keys in a moment of boredom doesn't necessarily require a huge commitment of emotion... :-/
