THEY are just 24 hours away from the biggest day – and dance – of their lives.

But while most brides and grooms would be busy spending the final hours before their wedding tinkering with table plans or fussing about favours, it’s a whole different ballroom game for this Hampshire couple.

The Daily Echo’s blushing bride Melanie Adams and her fiancé Gordon Simpson have been busy putting the finishing touches to their ultimate wedding dance under the watchful eye of Strictly Come Dancing star Natalie Lowe.

And what better way to help them combat their nerves than with an impromptu performance before friends and colleagues.

The Australian professional dancer, who has been teaching the couple their wedding dance, popped in to the newspaper’s offices in Test Lane, Redbridge, to ask the couple to showcase a snippet of their routine.

Viewers of Strictly – It Takes Two watched last night as Melanie and Gordon performed outside the Echo’s office to big cheers and whoops from their workmates, who were delighted to get a sneak preview.

Natalie also took the chance to speak to some of the wedding guests from the newspaper to find out a bit more about the couple, from West End, and what they are expecting from their first dance.

Gordon’s colleague, sports reporter Adam Leitch, said: “Gordon has been getting an awful lot of stick, but to be honest we’ve been quite disappointed because he’s been quite good.”

After the couple’s performance in front of their workmates, Melanie said: “I think, with the wedding so close now, it does help to do it in front of people.

“Hopefully now on the day it will be a cinch.

“Everybody here at work has been so supportive from the very beginning, so to give them a taste of it was great.”
