A FORMER Southampton social worker has been jailed for distributing and possessing indecent images of children.
Mudassar Khan, who used to work at Southampton City Council, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to 17 charges, which related to more than 6,000 images.
Detectives in Hampshire teamed up with colleagues in Greater Manchester and the FBI in the USA to bring him to justice.
Southampton City Council said there was no record of any warnings from Khan's time working for the authority.
Khan, who is from Reading, had also worked for Portsmouth City Council.
His registration as a social worker was suspended in August last year.
He has been jailed for two years and eight months.
