HAMPSHIRE MP Steve Brine has branded plans for a proposed wind farm as “totally inappropriate”.

His comments came during a debate in the House of Commons on plans to put up 14 wind turbines at Bullington Cross.

Defence minister Andrew Murrison said in the debate that the site could interfere with low flying operations and radars at Middle Wallop and Boscombe Down, while the Ministry of Defence has formally objected to the plan.

Mr Brine, who represents Winchester and Chandler’s Ford, said: “The minister and I agree it is totally inappropriate.

“The training of armed forces personnel is compromised by turbines which will actually be higher than Winchester's great cathedral.”

The turbines would be at least 800m from nearby properties and 125m high, according to EDF Energy.
