THEY are the high fliers who will help fill the demand for pilots.

This week 243 future pilots were presented with their wings at a graduation ceremony at Hampshire pilot training centre CTC Aviation in Nursling, near Southampton.

The event celebrated the achievements of cadets who have completed the two-year CTC Wings training programme. This year the centre saw 30 per cent more cadets graduating from the programme than last year, the majority of who have already landed work with airlines, including 119 of the graduates who now work for easyJet.

The aviation industry needs to find 235,000 new pilots between now and 2020 as the number of commercial jets is expected to rise from 22,000 to 40,000 before 2030.
