TRIBUTES were paid to Cameron Bespolka and his seriously ill father Kevin at a special carol service held at Winchester College Chapel last night.

Daily Echo:

The audience, including celebrity speaker Lord Julian Fellowes (above), actress Sarah Parish and comedian Hugh Dennis, were asked to remember the Bespolka family in their thoughts and prayers during the event in aid of the Haven in Wessex breast cancer charity.

Cameron was a pupil at Winchester College and his father was a supporter of The Haven in Wessex appeal.

Haven chief executive Pamela Healy told the sell-out audience that Mr Bespolka had helped to raise £150,000 towards the charity’s £2.5m target.

“Our thoughts are with the Besploka family at this difficult time,” said Pamela.

She said that Mr Bespolka was still in hospital following the avalanche, but that his son Cameron had not survived the incident.

The Rev Katrina Dykes, chaplain of St Swithun’s School, called on the 250-strong audience to remember the Bespolka family in their prayers as the event unfolded in the historic college chapel.

The event raised thousands of pounds for the charity which aims to establish a free-to-use support centre for those recovering from or living with breast cancer.

Other guests at the carol service included Archers radio stars Charles Collingwood and Judy Bettett, members of the Rock Choir and BBC South Today’s Sally Taylor who is chairman of the Haven in Wessex Appeal and who thanked all those who attended the event and whose support made it possible.
