Pub bosses appeal on hours

Daily Echo: Pub bosses appeal on hours Pub bosses appeal on hours

PUB bosses plan to appeal a council ruling to cut their opening hours after residents complained about noise.

The Sir Joseph Paxton pub in Hunts Pond Road, Titchfield, had been the subject of numerous complaints from nearby residents about loud music and voices from the pub garden, cigarette smoke, cooking smells and antisocial behaviour in the car park late at night.

Fareham councillors voted to impose 15 conditions on their licence including closing the pub garden at 9pm, not selling food or alcohol beyond 11pm and closing at 11.30pm.

Now Nick Hunter, who runs the pub, has vowed to lodge an appeal, claiming that several of the new conditions were impractical and would be detrimental to the business.

He says he has made changes, including reducing the pub’s events and live music and employing two more duty managers.
