Man left needing hospital treatment after brawl at 800-strong Christmas party

A MAN has been injured in a punch up at a Christmas party.

The victim, a 32-year-old, from Totton, was punched in the face at the marquee event at Stoneham Park, on Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh, where 800 guests had gathered.

A reveller had been arguing with the victim before a scuffle broke out and the victim ended up on the floor. He was punched him twice in the face.

The victim was taken to hospital and there is concern for an injury to his eyesocket. He also has swelling to his face.

The incident, which happened between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Friday , is being treated as potentially grievous bodily harm.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged 27 to 30 years old, 6ft to 6ft 2in tall, of reasonable build, with shaven head and spoke with a local accent.

Any witnesses are asked to call Detective Sue Hampton at Eastleigh CID on 101.

Has it not occurred to you that reporting this in the local news could just lead to the arrest of the thug that caused this injury?

Certainly not the "Best-Party-Ever" for this guy.

I have been to events run by the same events Company in previous years and to be honest I think the door staff were a joke. All they seem interested in is preventing people who haven't paid from entering. Anything else and they aren't particularly interested.

These events are just glorified, badly organised nightclubs.

I hope Eastleigh take this incident into account before granting a licence for next year.

Not in my personal experience. Fact.

Last year, they weren't at all interested at what went on in the marquee.

CCTV in the car park yet nothing in the marquee??!

So the cars take priority over the safety of the customers, then?

As someone who knows the victim I'm glad this all a good laugh for those who don't feel its serious enough to make the news. If you would like to see the photos of his face and then come and see how his daughter cant look her daddy in the face because it upsets her so much then let me know. If not then may i suggest you back off and keep your comments to yourself unless they are of any use to catching this thug. Thank you chimneysweep1234, everything you did was very much appreciated. There are no issues with the security at the event, the doorstaff were fantastic in what they did. Thank You to everyone who helped.

Pity you people who make light of it and joke, if it was a member of your family it would be different. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

I am a good friend of the person who was assaulted, he is a very respectable family man with a very respectable job and I totally agree with the comments made by promomum.

It is so easy to sit behind a computer and make comments, thinking you are funny, but how would you feel if it was you, one of your family or friends that was assaulted?

There is a family here upset by events and that includes young children, so userds5050, if you do know actually anything, please feel free to volunteer it to the Police, I am sure they would be very willing to listen to you and in touch soon. If you don't know anything and you are simply trying to be funny, trust me, it hasn't worked!!

In the season of goodwill Merry Xmas to all.
