FISH and chips are not your usual Christmas dinner.

But a Hampshire chippy has teamed up with the Salvation Army to give some of the neediest or loneliest people an unconventional Christmas Day lunch under one roof.

J Henry’s Fish and Chips in Hedge End will be serving up a treat at the new Salvation Army Centre at Hedge End Church and Community Centre for those who might not have food or company on the big day.

Owner Shane Lee said: “We are celebrating 25 years this year of being in Hedge End, and we wanted to give something back to the community as they have helped support me and my family here.”

Festivities will get under way at the centre in St John’s Road from 10am to 3.30pm. To book a place or if you’d like to book one for someone you know, call 07789 728786.
