A SOUTHAMPTON man died following chronic alcohol problems, an inquest heard.
Derek Bowey, 80, of Wolseley Road, Millbrook, died of alcoholic ketoacidosis, a condition which stops glucose production and leads to the body shutting down.
A post-mortem revealed he had alcohol in his system at the time of death and the inquest heard neighbours said he would often spend “a lot of time” in local pubs.
He was found dead at home by a neighbour in October.
Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
