ONE of Hampshire’s most famous landmarks has raised £35,000 with its first-ever charity dinner.

Some of the county’s top chefs laid on a feast at Romsey Abbey for a Filipino fundraiser.

The event was organised within just two weeks by events business Pear and Ginger, without spending a single penny as the venue, food and entertainment were provided for free.

More than 50 volunteers helped out while it was hosted by television presenter Tiff Needell and featured music from the 50-strong London Welsh Male Voice Choir.

Throughout the evening guests bid on some money can’t- buy auction items.

All proceeds were donated to Action Against Hunger’s Philippines appeal which aims to get food, water and sanitation to 400,000 people left hungry and homeless by the recent typhoon.
