TEAMS racing in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race were today in the early stages of the latest leg of the competition.

One team’s race had yet to begin at all after the Henri Lloyd yacht suffered a complication to the repair of a rudder.

Although a solution was found, the work needed to fix the rudder means it cannot start the race until tomorrow. Meanwhile, the rest of the fleet were due to leave the port of Hobart in Tasmania in the early hours of this morning. They will battle it out to Brisbane on the 1,200-mile latest leg of the race, which involves a number of sailors from Southampton and Hampshire.

They are due to reach the Australian sunshine coast on Monday.
