A WOMAN had to be rescued from her car by firefighters when she became stranded in a flooded ford in the New Forest today.

Her Nissan Micra got into difficulty in fast flowing water in Ringwood Road in South Gorley at 3.01pm.

Crews from Fordingbridge and Ringwood police stations waded into the water to lead her to safety.

A water rescue unit from Fareham were initially dispatched but she was rescued before they arrived.

Every year someone has to be rescued from a ford. Why? There are markers and only an idiot would try to drive through when it's deep.

I hope that picture was not taken at the time. Anyone stupid enough to go through that amount of water should be charged for the cost of the rescue.
