AFTER 16 years competing against top cyclists he knows a thing or two about bike safety.

Now Southampton’s former mountain bike champion Grant Fielder has gone back to school to pass on his skills.

The 30-year-old from Romsey has started an after school club at Highfield CE Primary School with his cycling tuition company Star Cycling.

The company aims to encourage more youngsters to get on their bikes while teaching them how to ride safely.

Children at Highfield will get to learn cycling techniques to help them handle their bikes properly, simple stunts and bike maintenance skills.

The dad-of-one started cycling competitively at 16 and in 2004 he was crowned Free Ride Mountain Bike World Champion.
