Those in need will benefit from caring residents.

Members of the Rotary Club in Fareham have raised £4,235 in their festive fundraising campaign.

This included collections at Sainsbury’s at the Broadcut, even singing carols in the foyer, and in Fareham Shopping Centre.

The club continues to support Rotary’s Eradication of Polio Appeal to further reduce the numbers of sufferers throughout the world. It also hopes to support the Rotary Dentaid Box scheme to improve the oral health of disadvantaged communities around the world.

Locally, the club has also been fundraising for the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust Rocky Appeal, which aims to provide a new state of the art digital keyhole operating theatre at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

Club president Pamela Bryant said: “It never ceases to amaze me how generous the people of Fareham can be.

“It’s a busy time of year and shoppers’ priorities for the Christmas season mean they are time-pressured yet they stopped to support our charity collections which will help so many.”
