WHEN a Winchester man took a look at a Swiss newspaper he had no idea he’d be reminded of his home city.
Alan Russell, of Compton Down, was sent a copy of the Tages Anzeiger by friends in Zurich, which contained the familiar image of the Winchester choir boys skating on the ice at the cathedral’s Inner Close.
Mr Russell, of Field Close, said: “It was just a lovely surprise to look down and see them having such a nice time at the Christmas market. I liked the colour of the red robes against the ice as it makes for a good photograph.”
The caption read: ‘A cold wave brought Great Britain temperatures down to -14 degrees. The choristers of Winchester Cathedral still have their fun.’
