NINETEEN young sports stars from schools and colleges across Hampshire have been presented with trophies.

The silverware was handed out at a ceremony at the county council headquarters in Winchester for outstanding achievement in a wide range of sports from athletics and BMX biking to taekwondo and trampoline.

Paralympian bronze medallist from London 2012, Olivia Breen, presented the 24th annual Michael Austin Harlick awards.

Mr Harlick, a former Gosport resident, left his entire estate to the council with the instructions to establish a memorial fund in his name to celebrate the achievements of young people in physical education, recreational and sporting activities.

Hannah Bryan, from Peter Symonds College in Winchester, was awarded the London 2012 Legacy Award for contribution to sport through volunteering.

Meanwhile the Michael May Trophy for the most outstanding single performance of the year went to Kyle Finch from Wildern School in Hedge End while the President’s Cup for outstanding team performance of the season went to Brockenhurst College First X1.
