She spends her working days using her skills to help others look beautiful.

Now Hampshire make-up artist Jourdan Walker, pictured, is using her own good looks to forge a career in the fashion industry.

The 20-year-old, from Dibden Purlieu, has reached the final of prestigious modelling competition Top Model UK.

The former Brockenhurst College student said: “I’ve wanted to get into modelling since I was little but I’m not really what people call a ‘typical’ model – I’m only 5ft 6in!

“Top Model separate the finalists into five categories: Editorial, Commercial, Natural Beauty, Over-25s and Men.

“I have been chosen for Natural Beauty, which is just amazing!

“I have worked in the industry for a while and seen the pressure models can be put under, but I’m very happy with how I look so I’m feeling confident.”

More than 60 models will walk the runway with hopes of winning their category title and a modelling contract with Top Model UK at the London Hilton on Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5.

With previous winners going on to model during London Fashion Week and make it on to the covers of top fashion magazines, this could be the beginning of a long, successful career for Jourdan.

Jourdan is now asking the people of her hometown to help her achieve the goal of becoming Top Model UK’s face of 2014, which invloves paying £1 to vote online.

The money goes towards Top Model’s chosen charity, Children With Cancer UK.
