HAMPSHIRE teenage singing sensation Birdy has been nominated for a Brit Award.
The 17-year-old from Lymington, whose real name is Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, is nominated in the British Female Solo Artist category.
She will up against Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Laura Marling and Laura Mvula for the award which will be announced at a glittering ceremony next month.
The teenager, who is the daughter of a concert pianist and great niece of actor Dirk Bogarde, released her second album, Entitled Fire Within, in September after selling almost 1.3 million copies of her self-titled album in 2011 and having a Top 20 hit with Bon Iver's Skinny Love aged just 14.
She studied for her GCSEs at Priestlands School but was forced to abandon her A-levels in art and French at Brockenhurst College due to her busy schedule.
Her career exploded after she was discovered by winning talent show Open Mic UK in 2008 aged just 12.
