DETECTIVES are tonight still trying to identify the man who was found dead on a footpath near a Hampshire railway station.

As reported earlier today, officers shut Millbrook station to members of the public and cordoned off the footbridge leading to it crossing Millbrook Road West.

Daily Echo:

Hampshire police have told the Daily Echo the body is that of a man but his identity remains unknown. It was found this morning by a member of the public along a footapth adjacent to the railway lines and station.

Officers from Hampshire's major investigation team say they are currently treating the death as 'unexplained' while initial inquiries are carried out.

Specialist scens of crime officers were on the scene this afternoon, carrying out a full forensic examination.

There werepolice officers from Hampshire Constabulary and British Transport Police at the railway station as well as an ambulance initially.

Daily Echo:

The entire footbridge was closed and officers were also standing guard on the bridge crossing the train tracks.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who has used the footpath within the past 24 hours to contact them via 101.

If you were murdered, lets hope not, would you want a comprehensive investigation, or, a low key one where one officer turns up, your body is jammed in the boot of his Panda car and you are dumped in landfill. Your choice. Not saying this person at Millbrook Station has been murdered, the Police will let us know in good time what is going on.

Not just my own it also boundary markers on maps, Millbrook ends at Tanners Brook when cross the brook you enter Redbridge, Millbrook Boundary Runs up the middle of Tanners Brook till you get to Hoe Lane which is called Oakley Road for the last 60 years, then follow this road till you get to St Edmund road then down the middle of Foundry Lane then into Millbrook road till you come to four post corner then a line to the water edge covering the whole of Western Docks. this is the village/parish/ward Boundary of Millbrook, and that is why the Train Station is called Millbrook Station, because its in Millbrook

Actually southy, tickets are issued to Millbrook (Hants), very unfortunate you'd choose to incorrectly argue such a pedantic point on a thread like this.

Incidentally, as of 17:20, Millbrook (HANTS) has reopened to the public and train services will now resume calling there.

No, the station was known under BR as Redbridge Hants and remains so now. You may or may not like that, but it's there to be seen on National Rail and numerous other websites. You can of course choose to call it whatsoever you like, and I'm well aware of the location, but in rail terms the station is what it is.

Soul,
I don't see you as a racist just some one who believes in the UKIP misleading the public over matters of immigration that,s all.
Charlie
According to the Echo the Body was found on the Footpath (and not on the station grounds or on the grounds that belong to BR), the footpath will take you two places 1/ is towards the city and Southampton Central Station, 2/ it will take you to the Docks walk though gate with a keypad key.
So the geography location of the body matters a lot, after there is more than one place called Millbrook, so any one reading the echo that is not local will not know where Millbrook is.
Think about it a long time

Quite right, sadly snobs and astate agents have called areas different things to best suit their own agendas and people believe them.
And that,s what is all about Snobbery, and sadly for some on here i am not a snob and never will be, well said by the way.

duncan1973 btw is says Hants on the tickets because when Millbrook station first became a station Millbrook was not in Southampton, it was out side, and the tickets have never been up dated on the location, The station it self do not say Hants it just says Millbrook now but it use to Say Southampton Millbrook at the Station.

Wrong yet again, it says Hants to disambiguate it from Millbrook in Bedfordshire. As one has the county name in it, so does the other ;)

I find it offensive. It's offensive that he uses a story about the death of someone, to tell us all how much he knows about local geography.
it's your choice to be offended, as It's Southy's choice to express an opinion on one, albeit minor, element of the story.
Get over yourself.
It's funny how you all queue up to take a pop at Southy and collectively try to muscle him off of the site. At least the guy has an opinion unlike the growing list of self-appointed site police that are simply reactionary.
