A HAMPSHIRE college is officially one of the best in the country.

Peter Symonds College in Winchester has been named in Tatler Magazine’s firstever Best State Schools Guide. The college was praised for the variety of its students’ successes, from gaining Oxbridge offers to sporting achievements.

Principal Stephen Carville said: “It is a great honour for us to be selected as one of the very best state schools in the country, particularly given that the Tatler Guide only identifies 30 institutions in the whole country worthy of mention.”

Peter Symonds is one of only two sixth form colleges included in the list.
