It was a glittering affair when radio station Unity 101 held its eighth anniversary dinner and awards evening in Southampton at the weekend.

The station broadcasts to the diverse communities in the region and stages the event to thank supporters and present awards to some of the many volunteers who are the backbone of the unique broadcasting phenomenon.

Southern Daily Echo Editor-in-Chief Ian Murray was guest speaker alongside Hampshire Police and Crime Commission Simon Hayes.

Southampton’s two universities are strong supporters of the station and were represented to make special awards on the night.
