LIFEBOAT crews were involved in a sea search in the early hours after fears were raised that someone was in trouble in the water.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat launched just before 4am after the alarm was raised by a resident living near to the water off East Cowes.
They reported hearing noises and possibly seeing a light coming from the water.
The Bembridge-based mobile coastguards and local police officers were also drafted in to search the shore.
After an hour of fruitless searching last Friday morning the lifeboat returned to station. It was concluded that the noise had come from the shore.
