WHERE has our money gone?
That was the message from Southampton Labour activists who took to the streets to protest the cost of living under the coalition Government.
Rowenna Davis, the party’s candidate hoping to succeed Southampton Itchen MP John Denham, campaigned with residents, councillors and Labour members at a street stall in Bitterne Precinct.
The party claims people in the south-east are on average £2,061 worse off since Prime Minister David Cameron took office.
Miss Davis said: “So many of us across the south-east are putting in all the hours we can at work, but still struggling to make ends meet.
“Now rising energy bills, accommodation and food costs are hitting people hard, and this Conservative-led Government doesn’t have the courage to take action.
“Labour’s energy price freeze, it’s commitment to build new homes and support for extra childcare will really make a difference. Together we can do better.”
