TOTAL rail chaos has spread across Hampshire with trains delayed by up to an hour.
A tree fell on the line between Sway and New Milton, affecting South West Trains services between Weymouth and London Waterloo and CrossCountry trains from Bournemouth to Manchester Picadilly.
The tree was cleared by 5pm and services are back running as normal.
South West Trains has also suspended services between Eastleigh and Romsey due to signalling problems at Chandler's Ford. CrossCountry and First Great Western trains are also affected.
A separate signalling problem at Southampton Central also caused delays on services to Havant, Fareham, Basingstoke and Salisbury until around 3pm.
All lines through Southampton Central remain open but alterations are expected.
Replacement buses have been requested between Eastleigh and Romsey but it is not yet known when the line will reopen.
