MORE than 200 people have benefited from a scheme for Hampshire athletes.
The Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS) was launched last July with the help of Hampshire-based Olympic gold medallist cyclist Dani King.
It is jointly run by Sport Hampshire and Isle of Wight and Hampshire County Council, which has ploughed extra funding into the initiative from its Olympic Legacy programme.
That brings the total of funding from the programme into HTAS to £92,000 for the next three years, which will help to support local athletes with their training, travel and physiotherapy.
Among those to receive funding since HTAS launched in 2008 are Hamble-based Ms King and Olympic bronze medallist hockey star Alex Danson, who went to school in Odiham.
