A GRANDMOTHER died from head injuries sustained during a fall at a Hampshire nursing home, an inquest heard.

Jean Le Marechal was taken to Southampton General Hospital after staff found her unresponsive in her bed at Hawthorne Court in Sarisbury Green.

Her son Stuart told the inquest how his 82-year-old mother suffered confusion, anxiety and poor eyesight and had fallen many times before, both at home and in hospital, and had previously suffered a broken arm.

The inquest heard how a CT scan carried out after the fall on June 10 last year revealed that the former seamstress suffered a blood clot to her brain.

But doctors decided that she was too frail to operate on.

Southampton coroner Keith Wiseman recorded an accidental death determination.
