Daily Echo: Vandalism fears see bench plea rejected Vandalism fears see bench plea rejected

Vandalism fears have prompted Ringwood Town Council to reject a plea for benches to be sited at two popular dog walking sites in the town.

Councillors had been asked to put benches at Forestside Gardens and on The Mount to give walkers and dog walkers an opportunity to rest.

However, town clerk Terry Simpson told members that benches in the suggested places could encourage antisocial behaviour and vandalism.

Dear oh dear!

Is this what our country is reduced to? We don't install a couple of benches as they will attract vandals?

I suggest they are installed and then if there is any anti-social behaviour in those areas the police could be used to sort it out. If the might of the law can't keep a lid on it, then they could be removed.
