Family rescued from stranded yacht
A FAMILY had to be rescued by lifeboat crews when their yacht became stranded in The Solent yesterday.
A couple, their two young children and dog got stuck on the Beaulieu River entrance of Lepe Spit at 1pm.
A rope became entangled around the propeller of their 35ft yacht Islana and they were unable to retrieve their anchor.
The Cowes RNLI lifeboat crew cut the anchor free before towing them back to Shepards Wharf, Cowes.
They then braved choppy conditions to recover the anchor from the river bed to prevent it causing a hazard to other vessels and restored it to the yacht.
