A HAMPSHIRE man died after bumping his head, an inquest heard.

Thomas Foster, of Spring Lane, Colden Common, died at Royal Hampshire County Hospital after he fell in his kitchen in September.

He and his wife Anne had just eaten when he offered to make coffee.

The inquest heard how Mr Foster, 77, was a Rotarian and was due to see Fiddler on the Roof with other Rotary members but decided to spend the night in with his wife of 50 years instead.

Mr Foster had suffered a stroke about five years before his death which left him needing to use a frame or a walking stick. He had also been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis.

Assistant coroner Simon Burge recorded a verdict of accidental death.
