Daily Echo: Road shut after level crossing breaks down Road shut after level crossing breaks down

A busy Hampshire road has been closed this morning after a level crossing developed a fault.

Motorists are unable to use the A337 through Brockenhurst because the crossing barriers are locked in the down position. Drivers are facing a lengthy detour through Beaulieu.

Network Rail engineers are repairing the fault but police are unable to say when the road will re-open.

Local drivers will simply use Mill Lane and Balmer Lawn Road. How would a trip to Beaulieu solve anything?
