JURORS were retiring today to consider their verdict in a Southampton death crash trial.
Youth worker Steven Petterson is accused of causing an accident which killed IT consultant David Irving, who was cycling to work along Mountbatten Way, Southampton, on December 17, 2012.
The prosecution claim the father of seven knocked Mr Irving, who lived in Wimborne, off his bike and moments later he was run over by a Mercedes.
Petterson, 38, claims he was blinded by the low sun and did not see the cyclist. He stopped his minibus in an adjacent layby believing he had struck a bus signpost.
Petterson, of Waterhouse Lane, Southampton, denies causing death by careless driving.
