YOU can leave your hat on at this year’s Larmer Tree Festival as living legend Sir Tom Jones will be kicking off the festivities.
The Welsh crooner and judge on BBC1’s singing contest The Voice will be headlining the intimate boutique festival on Wednesday July 16, it was revealed today.
He has sold more than 100 million records during a career spanning more than 50 years and it seems the green green grass of Dorset has tempted him to perform at the quirky five-day music event.
"I've heard great things about Larmer Tree Festival so it will be my pleasure to come and perform there.
“It looks like a wonderful setting for a great night of good music," said the popular vocalist.
Sir Tom will perform on the main stage on the first evening and festival-goers can expect an “electrifying set” and a “party atmosphere”, according to organisers.
The Grammy and BRIT award winning singer will be performing classic songs as well as tracks from his latest album Spirit in the Room.
Larmer Tree Festival Co-Director James Shepard said: “We are hugely excited and proud to have Tom Jones kick start the five-day festival party.
“The intimate atmosphere of the Larmer Tree lawns will give our audience a chance to see this true legend in a unique and very special setting.”
Headlined by Van Morrison last year, the award-winning festival is set in stunning gardens on the Dorset-Wiltshire border and will be taking place from July 16 to July 20.
It is a feast of all types of culture from film and comedy to music, art and crafts.
Early bird tickets for Sir Tom Jones are priced at £53 for adults. For more information visit larmertreefestival.co.uk.
