A HAMPSHIRE youngster is closer than ever to a lifechanging operation that will help her to walk on her own for the first time.
A Beatrix Potterthemed ball held in honour of Jemima Syvret, who suffers from cerebral palsy, saw guests raising thousands of pounds to make the dream operation a reality.
The family of the five-year-old from Otterbourne is trying to raise £90,000 which will pay for an operation on her spine in the US, as well as intense physiotherapy to help her to take her first steps unaided.
The ball, at the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton was hosted by former Saints player Nicky Banger.
