THEY are some of the most popular computer games on the market but could the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield be used to help train real soldiers?

Ex-Royal Navy weapons engineering officer Jonathan Read will lead an interactive demonstration in Alresford, near Winchester, this month, utilising cutting- edge technology based on gaming software to create realistic battle simulations for the military.

Some lucky guests will get the chance to take part in hands-on training at the event at Signal House, Jacklyns Lane, where two teams will be pitted against each other and will have to develop teamwork, planning and communication skills to win.

It starts at 8am on February 26 and is the latest in First Option Software’s ‘First Thing’ breakfast workshops.
