Police launch hunt for hit and run driver

Daily Echo: Police launch hunt for hunt hit and run driver Police launch hunt for hunt hit and run driver

POLICE are hunting a driver who failed to stop after hitting a pedestrian leaving him with a broken arm and leg.

Officers say it is possible the motorist may have thought they had hit an animal and not aware that a pedestrian was involved.

The incident happened at around 2am on Sunday on Stoneham Lane near junction five of the M27.

Police say the vehicle was travelling towards Chandlers Ford when it collided with the 31-year-old man, who suffered a broken arm and leg.

PC Martin Vine said: “With very limited lighting along this stretch of road, it may well be that a driver believed that they had been involved in a collision with an animal and is unaware that a pedestrian was involved.

"However, I do need to speak to this driver, so if it was you or you know who it may have been, please contact me."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Martin Vine at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A driver you say? I thought they weren't the problem?
