KIND-HEARTED Paige Jones, from Burtonwood, has chopped off her flowing locks to help provide real-hair wigs for children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

The seven-year-old made the decision to cut off seven inches of her hair after her auntie was diagnosed with cancer.

The youngster has never had more than an inch cut off her hair so braving the chop was a big decision for Paige.

Her mum Becky Pennycook said she was proud of her daughter for donating her hair to help others.

She added: “Paige saw an advert on the TV about donating your hair to make wigs and she turned around and said ‘mummy I want to do that’.

“We have been really open with Paige about what’s going on as I think that’s the best way to be about stuff like that.

“When she said she wanted to cut off her hair, I couldn’t stop crying.”

The Burtonwood Primary School pupil already has plans to grow her hair back so she can cut it off all over again.

Becky added: “She told me she’s going to keep growing it back and then getting it cut. She wants to try and help as much as she can.”

The year two pupil has since sent her hair to The Little Princess Trust to help provide wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that are suffering from the devastating disease.
