A HAMPSHIRE pub has fallen victim to Mother Nature as severe flooding has forced it to close.

The White Swan pub, on Mansbridge Road, Mansbridge, has a sign up telling customers that the high water levels have shut the pub.

The car park is under water with vehicles unable to get in.

The pub is no stranger to flooding, due to its closer proximity to the river which runs past the outside area at the back of the venue.

This flood is the fourth the pub has suffered since Christmas Eve, just six weeks ago.

As reported by the Daily Echo, staff made a concerted effort to reopen the pub less than a month ago.

However they will now have to do it all again following this latest setback.

It is about time the Environment Agency got of there arse and dredged all of the water way and cut back the trees and weeds i have lived by the pub for 22 years and it is getting worse and worse at some points the water is only ankle height in the summer and when you get to the Woodmill end it is really bad with rubbish. also by the Flemming Arms at one spot it has a tree growing out from the middle of the water as it has a big mound of soil, also why can not a wall be built with flood gates around the pub to try and help it from flooding ?

And who is going to pay for the wall with flood gates to protect the pub?

You?

It's not the pub - as they would have done so if it was commercially and financially viable.

You really don't have a clue. You're just too dim to recognise a paraphrase an old saying about swans.

The White Swan has always been prone to flooding. There even used to be lines drawn on the wall of the carvery area showing the levels of several previous floods.

I'd doubt it's covered by insurance, but obviously it's lucrative enough to justify the periodic risk.

No point blaming anyone else for it.
