A HAMPSHIRE student has pursued her dream of having a mathematical scarf.
Jo Baldwin, 18, is a maths and further maths enthusiast who became obsessed with a knitted scarf after attending a Maths Inspiration event with her college Barton Peveril.
The scarf belonged to Maths Inspiration presenter Matt Parker.
Known as the ‘stand-up mathematician’ Matt has been seen during many shows wearing a scarf knitted by his mother which has binary code detailing.
On her first visit as an AS student, Jo noticed the binary quotation scarf and decided she had to have it.
She asked for the pattern, and for her 18th birthday Jo’s mum presented her with her very own.
The former King’s School, Winchester, student attended a second event this year and wore the scarf, causing a mathematical fashion storm when it caught Matt’s eye.
She said: “Not only did the Maths Inspiration event inspire me to get my own nerdy clothing, but it motivated me to look into the links between maths and everyday life.”
