MOTORISTS had a lucky escape after a four-car pileup on a Hampshire motorway this morning, resulting in part of the carriageway being closed.

The vehicles collided between junction seven and junction eight of the M27 westbound, near Hedge End.

Minor damage was caused but there were no injuries and all cars are now on the hard shoulder, although the outside lane was closed for a short period.

Traffic is moving slowly with delays of around five minutes but no lane closures are in force.
