CARERS can get a helping hand to cope with their situation.

Fareham and Gosport residents who care for someone can take part in a free Look After Me course run by self management uk, through the NHS Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group.

It is designed to help carers make time for their own health needs and take control of their lives.

The six-week course at St John’s Church, in Fareham, starts this month with two-anda- half-hour sessions each week.

Led by two trained tutors with experience of being a carer, the course aims to help carers develop existing skills to cope with their situation, develop confidence and to be more realistic about the impact this is having on them and their family.

There are 2,000 registered carers in Fareham and Gosport alone.
