Flood danger warning to parents
7:30am Tuesday 11th February 2014 in News
PARENTS are being urged to warn their children about the dangers of playing near flood waters.
Test Valley Borough Council has started to put up signs in waterlogged areas warning of the dangers of entering floodwater, which can be contaminated with sewage and other hidden hazards.
Hampshire Constabulary is working closely with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, Hampshire County Council and all other local authorities in co-ordinating its response to the current flooding and persistent storm conditions.
Insp Mark Lewis, leading the Response Working Group, said: “Flood water can seem very attractive to youngsters and dogs to play in, but we would strongly advise staying out of it, and keep yourself safe from potential harm.”
Advice on carbon monoxide is also being given to householders and businesses who have been running pumps to remove floodwater.
