DETAILS of the final moments of a man who drowned in a lake are being heard at an inquest today.
Austin Clark died in freezing waters at Lakeside Country Park in Eastleigh despite a major rescue operation to save him.
Brave police officers jumped into the water to search for the 28-year-old on December 9 last year.
All three emergency services and the National Police Air Service helicopter arrived minutes later to spearheaded the operation.
They found Austin two hours later but he was pronounced dead at hospital despite attempts to save his life.
It is understood that the former Sparsholt College student was visiting the beauty spot with friends and took the decision to go swimming, but got into trouble 20 metres out.
The inquest takes place at Southampton Coroner’s Court in Hulse Road.
