A CAMPAIGN has been launched to overhaul Southampton Athletics Club’s dilapidated facilities.
An event at The View at Southampton Sports Centre fired the starter gun on the Back the Track campaign.
Facilities at the club in Bassett have not been upgraded for the past 30 years and are in various states of disrepair.
Now club chiefs have said that enough is enough, and have launched a bid to raise £200,000 to upgrade its clubhouse, toilets, stands and other facilities.
More than 60 people attended the launch meeting, while club members will show city council leisure chief Matt Tucker around the facilities.
They have already had the backing of Olympic sprint gold medallist Darren Campbell, who toured the club’s ground last week.
