THE SHINING stars of some of Hampshire’s hospital wards have been honoured at a special awards ceremony.

More than 125 staff working for Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust received their WOW! Awards celebrating their achievements during the past 12 monthss.

During 2013 the trust, which runs the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, received more than 1,000 nominations for the awards, which acknowledge those staff who provide excellent customer care and go beyond the call of duty.

One of those taking home an award was Julie Adams, ward sister on the Nick Jonas chemotherapy ward at the Winchester hospital, who was crowned the Surgical Division overall winner.

Chief nurse Donna Green said: “We have an outstanding group of staff and the awards highlight the dedication and hard work they put in to deliver high quality services for our patients.

“Our staff have been nominated for some amazing things and it makes me feel extremely proud and privileged to work here when I read all the nominations we receive."
