A GROUP of veterans will make their way to Hampshire in July as they embark on a cross-country charity walk to mark the First World War’s 100th anniversary.
Veterans in Action will hit the county as part of their World War 1-100 relay walk with the aim of raising £3m – £1 for each British and Commonwealth service personnel either killed or wounded.
They will reach Barton-on-Sea on July 22 and will make their way through Milford-on-Sea, Lymington, Lyndhurst, Ashurst, Totton, and Shirley, before reaching Southampton city centre.
There will then be a fundraising day in Southampton on July 23.
The walk will start at the Tyn Cot War Cemetery in Belgium, where they will pay their respects, and will cross the UK by ferry to Dover.
The walk will be completed on August 4 with a fundraising day at London’s Trafalgar Square.
