A HAMPSHIRE road closed following a serious crash between a car and lorry this morning has been reopened.

Yokesford Hill was closed for more than five hours after the collision, which happened just before 10am leaving motorists facing huge delays.

A total of 16 firefighters from Romsey, Redbridge and Eastleigh headed to the scene, along with one ambulance, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance at the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).

Firefighters had to cut one person from one of the vehicles and was handed to the ambulance team.

Police have not yet confirmed the extent of any injuries suffered by those involved in the crash.

Road closures were in place at the junctions of Yokesford Hill, Bunny Lane, A3057 and the junction of Belbins and Cupernham Lane.

Officers had urged all drivers, including HGV drivers, to avoid the area as there were no other suitable diversion routes due to the flooding.

The road was being used as a diversion for those diverted off of the A3057 due to the flooding along Greatbridge Road and Budds Lane.
