A DEMONSTRATION will take place against Government welfare changes.

Protesters will gather outside the Southampton offices of the Government’s healthcare contractor Atos.

The protesters, including members of the Labour and Green parties and trade unions, have criticised the work capability assessment tests carried out by Atos.

They are calling for the Government to scrap Atos’s contract, saying the assessments are “not fit for purpose” and that medical professionals should carry them out instead.

Last year Prime Minister David Cameron admitted the quality of service had to improve.

The demonstration will take place from 8am outside the firm’s offices in Terminus Terrace.
