THE county’s leading tourism trade association has appointed a new chairman.

From his month (February) Jane Rees-Baynes, of Elm Grove Country House, has stepped up as chairman of Pembrokeshire Tourism.

Jane is taking over from Tim Brace, of FBM Holidays, who stepped down in January after a successful two years in post.

She is the first woman to undertake the role at Pembrokeshire Tourism.

“I feel extremely proud to be the new chairman of Pembrokeshire Tourism and I hope I can fill the very big shoes left by Tim Brace, who has done a fantastic job for the last two years,” she said.

The third generation to run the family business alongside her husband Alan, Jane has more than seven years experience in the tourism industry, and brings a wide range of knowledge and skills to the organisation.

“Having grown up in the industry, and as a B&B owner myself, I have firsthand experience of the challenges that are faced by tourism-related businesses, big and small,” she said.

“I hope to use this experience along with feedback from our directors and members to support the team at Pembrokeshire Tourism in providing an invaluable service to members.”

Pembrokeshire Tourism chief executive Maudie Hughes added: "I'm delighted to welcome Jane to the role of chairman.

“She's already made a great contribution to the board of Pembrokeshire Tourism over the last year and I'm looking forward to working with her and the board over the coming months.”
